For the last 11 years, Emily has been dedicating herself to teaching the diverse students of the Denver area. She received her Bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska. Emily’s most recent classroom ventures have been in kindergarten and first grade, teaching all content areas, however she holds an extra passion for literacy and bridging the gap of early readers. Working with students with diverse backgrounds and learning abilities has allowed Emily to understand the impact of learning on the child as a whole and teaching specifically to that child. Through relationship building and taking time to understand how each child ticks, she believes students can and should enjoy learning and aims to have each child she tutors be excited for their tutoring lesson each week.
Emily enjoys tutoring for the freedom it gives to pinpoint each student’s individual needs and hone in on the best way to not only meet those needs but have fun while doing so. With a devotion to hands-on learning involving games, movement, and student’s personal interests, she tailors each lesson to meet learning goals and also that students’ particular needs. Whether movement is needed for an extra wiggly child or perhaps a game or book picked for engagement that appeals to their enjoyment, tutoring is the time for your child to get the one-on-one learning they’ve yearned for all day.
While not tutoring or teaching Emily loves to ride her bike, travel, read, bake and cook, do puzzles, paint and draw, and spend time with her husband, kitty and two dogs.
