Elise believes learning should be fun for kids! Her teaching style incorporates songs, movement, puppets, lego, or art to bring concepts to life and help children remember what they learn. Her fun personality, engaging story-telling, and love of children have made her a favorite teacher everywhere she’s worked.
Elise holds twelve years of elementary classroom teaching experience, mostly in second and third grade. Born and raised in the south (Arkansas and Texas), Elise now calls Colorado home, having lived and taught here for ten years. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas and her Master’s degree in Teaching: Curriculum and Instruction from Carson-Newman University in East Tennessee. An avid crafter, Elise loves using creative resources to bring her lessons to life. When she’s not working with kids, she enjoys thrifting for treasures, crafting, and snuggling with her two cats, Tilly and Tigger.
Elise has received several teaching awards throughout her career including Eagle County, Colorado’s district-wide “Rookie of the Year” and Denver Public School’s highest ranking “Distinguished Teacher.” However, she will quickly tell you that the greatest honor is making a difference in her students’ lives and continuing relationships with them for many years to come.
