Claire is a Licensed Elementary Teacher with 5 years of teaching experience. She received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an English focus from Hope College in 2015. She has taught 5th grade, 4th grade, and secondary ESL. Claire’s teaching experience comes from working in Aurora Public Schools where she became familiar with several curriculums including, Wonders, Bridges, EngageNY, and 95% Phonics.Claire prioritizes building a strong connection with her students while upholding high expectations and closely monitoring data to promote student growth. She has experience working with a range of academic and social needs and has developed strategies to meet those needs.
Outside of the classroom Claire enjoys being outdoors hiking, camping, skiing, or walking with friends. She is also an avid reader and creative writer. This past year Claire spent a semester teaching in Northern Thailand and developed a passion for exploring other cultures and travel. Claire appreciates adventure and creativity and loves encouraging her students to do the same.
