SUBJECT SPECIALTIES:

Julie White

Julie White has joined Wash Park Tutoring to help students gain confidence and be successful in elementary and middle school mathematics. Julie taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math in El Paso, Texas before moving to Denver. She is certified to teach Mathematics Education (7-12) and Elementary Education(K-6). In Denver, Julie taught 7th grade math before becoming a Math Interventionist working with small groups of students. As an interventionist at an ECE-8 school, she worked with middle school students for 5 years and then students in 1st – 5th grades for 3 years. Julie determined the gaps and/or misconceptions her students had and then created small groups of students with similar instructional needs to re-teach skills using hands-on activities, models, and games. The small groups allowed Julie to get to know her students better, create more trust, and have more FUN!

Julie earned a BBA in Marketing from Texas A&M University and worked as a buyer/manager before changing directions and pursuing her teaching certification with a math specialization at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Julie developed and taught an elective for 6th – 8th grades using Mindful Schools curriculum. She loves to take walks with her grown children and her dog, Emma. For fun,she reads a wide variety of genres and is always up for going to a movie. Julie enjoys hiking, swimming, yoga, and being in nature anywhere in Colorado!
